Catarina Hansson

Catarina Hansson is a Swedish author, teacher, editor, and illustrator whose storytelling is rooted in a lifelong love of Nordic folklore, Norse mythology, and the power of imagination to open doors inside a young reader's mind that stay open for a lifetime.

Born and raised in Sweden, Catarina spent her career working with children as a teacher before turning her creative energy fully toward writing and illustration. Her books span both fiction and educational teaching aids and have been published not only in Sweden but also in Norway, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, a multi-country publishing history that reflects the universal warmth and cultural richness of everything she writes.

Her most celebrated work is the Ella Trilogy, a complete three-book Norse fantasy adventure set in the mythical world of Nordanland. Rooted in authentic Swedish folklore, Aesir faith, oknytt, seid magic, gealdors, and runes, the trilogy follows Tora, daughter of the former king and queen of Nordanland and a powerful seer and healer slowly discovering the full extent of her extraordinary abilities, and her loyal companion Wolf as they face gray gnomes, black magic, and the rising darkness of the blood moon. As a Swedish author writing Norse mythology from genuine cultural knowledge, Catarina brings an authenticity to Nordanland that no borrowed imagination can replicate.

Catarina lives in southern Sweden with her husband.
