Sherma Charles

Sherma has a passion for empowering and developing others & this is the theme for the work she produces. A mother of two sons & living in London in the UK, Sherma is always striving to extend her experience and skills to support the learning & development of others across various professional spaces.

Sherma has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice & Criminology and a Masters Degree in Social Work & she is currently working as a Manager of a multi-disciplinary Infant Mental Health Team in a Children's Charity, alongside which she also runs her Independent Travel Agent business.

As an avid reader herself it has been a long-term desire for Sherma to move into the writing space which she initially commenced by creating workshops around equality, diversity & inclusion themes; which she would deliver to social care professionals. This progressed to some guest lecturing & an opportunity to feature in an online course created to inspire budding social care managers. From there, Sherma started to create a syllabus for groupwork with girls from minoritised groups, who are between 8 &14 years of age. This was in collaboration with a local non-profit organisation which is a community based initiative supporting families in need of food and or support; with a view of gaining funding to support delivery of the programme in the local community. The syllabus focuses on self-love, self-acceptance; & embracing your identity.

Having embraced her own self-love, it felt timely and pertinent for Sherma to next share her insights & experience of this journey; hence the birth of the Embodying Essence: Discovering Your Power & Purpose Series a transformative trilogy designed to guide readers on an empowering journey of self-discovery.
