I hold a PhD from the University of Kentucky, specializing in Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychopharmacology. Currently, I am an associate professor at Slippery Rock University, where I teach in the Psychology and Neuroscience programs. The idea for our book was born when I discovered that my graduate school mentor and co-author, Chana Akins, had always dreamed of writing a children's book. My background as a preschool teacher and volunteer experience with children at the Boys and Girls Club fueled my passion for engaging young minds. Our shared love for education and desire to make complex topics accessible to children inspired us to collaborate on this book about neuroscience for young minds.
