Wendy Castillo

Dr. Wendy Castillo is an Assistant Professor in Urban Education and Quantitative Methods at Montclair State University. Previously she was a Lecturer at Princeton's School of Public and International Affairs and was the Associate Director of Philanthropy Research at The Bridgespan Group. She was also the Senior Director of Equity, Data & Impact at the National Urban League where she led their data strategy and program evaluation efforts. Wendy has experience with quantitative research methods, including large-scale randomized controlled trials, meta-analysis, cost analysis, and measurement design and validation. Her research interests lay at the intersection of race and quantitative data and methods including QuantCrit and other racial equity frameworks to advance and improve the lives of students of color.

Earlier in her career, Wendy taught elementary school in Miami-Dade through Teach for America and created an after-school dance club for students in her community. She credits both as being influential experiences in her professional career. Wendy studied Education Policy and earned her PhD at the University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a MSEd in Educational and Social Change from the University of Miami and a BA in International Relations from Brown University
