Stefano Cozzolino (Italy, 1988) is a Senior Researcher at the ILS – Research Institute for Regional and Urban Development in Dortmund, Germany, and a Lecturer at RWTH Aachen University in Aachen, Germany. His primary research interests lie at the intersection of planning/design and spontaneous socio-spatial configurations. For the Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP), he currently coordinates the Thematic Group on Ethics, Values, and Planning.
Dr. Cozzolino earned his Doctorate in Urban Planning Policy and Design from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 2017. He has published extensively in prestigious academic journals, including Cities, Environment and Planning B, Journal of Urban Design, Urban Design International, Land Use Policy, Journal of Planning Education and Research, and European Planning Studies.
Throughout his career, Dr. Cozzolino has gained diverse international experience, including collaborations and visiting periods at the State University of New York in 2015, the University of Groningen in 2019, and Tel Aviv University in 2023.
