I have been teaching functional skills since I first started my own adult education journey. I started by completing a Degree in Education and Professional Development with English Language and Literacy Specialism. I went on to achieve a BA (Hons) in Education and Professionalism, followed by a Masters Degree in Education.
I have always specialised in working with adult learners with additional learning needs or those who just didn't "get it" at school. I apply all of this experience in my teaching methods to make learning as easy as possible and just that little bit more fun and empowering!!
I decided to write my own books on English and maths as a result of trying to use other resources with my learners. However, as I work mostly with learners who have neurodiverse needs, such as autism, dyslexia or dyscalculia, I found some of the material to be too 'busy' or too small a text or just too complicated in terms of diagrams and lines.
I also like to write fiction with my two eldest grandchildren and we have two books in the pipeline which are very 'mysterious' with lots of twists and turns!!
