JAMES W. ROSE

James W. Rose is an educational professional and leader for over forty years. A graduate of SUNY Cortland where he earned a B.S.E. in Physical Education and Columbia University, Teachers College where he studied educational leadership, physical education and earned an M.A. as a teaching and curriculum specialist. Over the years, he has become a respected professional, teacher, coach, author, leader, administrator, presenter, consultant, speaker, and expert witness. He has published multiple articles and books as well as a software program and has held or is presently holding many leadership positions in his fields. He has been an adjunct instructor at Columbia University for over twenty years.

While excelling professionally he has also served the communities he has lived in as a volunteer firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for over forty years. He spends time as a first responder whenever he is home, which is usually at night when everyone else is sleeping. As a result of this dual life, he has received many honors and awards as a leader, speaker, first responder and author. His mission in life has been to help others. He feels he has done this through teaching, coaching, leading and being a first responder.

Of his most recent books, that have been out for at least a year, the following honors were received as of May 30, 2026:

Boss the Handbook for Anyone Who Has a Boss or Anyone Who Would Like to be a Boss (2022), received a 2023 honorable mention honors in both the New York State Bookfest and the New England Bookfest.

Sleepless Nights the First 42 Years as an Active EMT (2024), received a 2025 Book Excellence Award.
