Ian Hembrow

Ian Hembrow is a writer, researcher and trainer - a visiting scholar at the Oxford Centre for Life Writing at Wolfson College, University of Oxford, 2021-23. He also works as a Humanist funeral celebrant.

Ian's interests include humanities, history, housing, health - and some things that don't begin with 'h'... As a biographer he's written about the life and career of medicines safety expert Professor Ralph Edwards ('RARE EVENTS - the inside story of a worldwide quest for safer medicines') and Professor Anders Celsius ('CELSIUS - a life and death by degrees').

Sarah Covington, Professor of Biography and Memoir at City University of New York described 'CELSIUS' as "A beautifully written masterwork of science biography, which sheds light on a brilliant polymath and the colorful world of eighteenth-century science. It also raises larger and more contemporary questions around global warming and the relevance of Celsius to the world we live in today."
