Dr. Scyller J. Borglum currently serves as Vice President of Energy in Underground Storage at WSP USA. Scyller served as South Dakota State Representative from 2018–2020 before returning to the technical field as a subject matter expert for underground storage.
Dr. Borglum formerly conducted doctoral research in geology and geological engineering in the RESPEC Geomechanical Laboratory and as an ORISE Fellow at the National Energy Technology Laboratory in Morgantown, WV. During this time, Scyller also coauthored the textbook The Fossil Fuel Revolution: Shale Gas and Tight Oil.
Scyller started in the energy industry as a petroleum engineer, working up and down the Rocky Mountain Front and in North Dakota. Now, Scyller advises clients, local, state, and federal agencies, think tanks, and elected officials (both in the U.S. and abroad) about storing energy subsurface for energy security and accessibility.
Dr. Borglum is a passionate advocate for bringing new students into STEM studies, particularly energy production, generation, development, storage, and deliverability.
