John F. Jarrell MD

Dr. John Jarrell is an Emeritus Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Cumming School of Medicine and the University of Calgary, He has received training at Queen's University (MD), McGill University (MSc) and McMaster University (FRCSC). Advanced studies have been at Harvard University School of Public Health (Howard Hu), and Aalborg University Institute of Sensory Motor Interaction (Sir Lars Arendt-Nielsen). As an active gynecologist he has had a focus of women's pain therapy since 1988, working at the Chronic Pain Program in Calgary from 2000 retiring in 2018. He is President of the Calgary History of Medicine Society. He is the author of more than 100 peer reviewed papers, many chapters and has edited two books. He is the author of The History of the Gynecological Treatment of Women's Pelvic Pain and the Emergence of Pelvic Pain Sensitization.
