Murray Dhee

engineering officer who spent nearly three decades operating, sustaining, and delivering complex warships at sea. He played a key role in the commissioning and introduction into service of major naval platforms and has worked across all levels of the Defence enterprise, as well as within industry on significant maritime capability programs.

He previously wrote under the pen name Murray Dhee.

David writes from direct experience; drawing on frontline operations, shipbuilding, and sustainment, as well as leading the officers and sailors who make it all work. His work focuses on the reality behind naval operations: not just the events themselves, but the people who carry them.

Through this, David aims to reflect a side of service that is rarely seen, and to give voice to experiences that are often difficult to explain to those who have not lived them.

Now living in regional New South Wales with his young family and dog, David has traded the constant movement of life at sea for a quieter pace. though the pull of the ocean, and the world he left behind, remains.

Because in the end, nothing beats a good naval yarn.
