Victoria Li

I am an artist and a writer, born in Kansas City, Missouri, and raised in both KC (mostly on the Kansas side of the state line) and Hong Kong for most of my childhood. In the Midwest, I grew up spending a lot of my time in my family's Chinese restaurants as both my parents, and their parents before them, came to this country with the dream of a better future for me, my sister, and my cousins. And in the 80s, their contribution to society was the sharing of our culture and heritage through good food. This time that I spent with family is something I consider one of my greatest blessings. It was in those restaurants that I learned about determination and hard work, but most importantly of all, about how important it is to have a dream.

I consider myself a very typical 90s child who not only loves art and books but was raised on 80s and 90s music and pop culture. What I find myself most inspired by from my childhood is what I usually write about or create art concepts with. When I am not writing or working on commissioned artwork, my passion is reading. I am an avid reader and I believe that through books, I have lived many lives. When I'm feeling particularly inspired, you can find me creating paper-quilled portraits of fictional characters from my favorite stories or of women who I strongly believe have paved my way as a BIPOC woman living and continuously trying to navigate the ever-changing society.

I am currently located and reside in Kent, Washington where I live with my wife and our three fur-children.
