The Labyrinth We Walked was named a finalist in History: General for the 2024 National Indie Excellence Award, and in History for the 2024 Foreword Indies award. It is my first published book; most of the essays in the book previously appeared in slightly different form in The Montreal Review.
I write poetry and nonfiction, with a special interest in world history. I am also a Boston-area attorney specializing in securities and insurance law. I have served as an officer and board member of several nonprofits: the Brookline Community Mental Health Center in Brookline, Massachusetts; Graywolf Press of Minneapolis; and MassPoetry, sponsor of the Massachusetts Poetry Festival and other poetry education events in the Commonwealth. I graduated from Dartmouth College, in mathematics, and Duke Law School.
I live in Cambridge, Massachusetts with my wife, the poet Marjorie Thomsen.
