LEMUEL CALEB GONZALEZ

Lemuel Caleb Gonzalez lives and writes in Berkeley, California.

The inspiration for his, “Seeling Night,” stories comes from an imaginatively fertile period working at Holmes Book Company in downtown Oakland. The cavernous, eighty year old Holmes building had a reputation for paranormal activity. Poltergeist phenomena, apparitions, and whispering voices became part of his personal experience.

The chance discovery of Arthur Machen’s The Three Impostors in a Holmes discard bin inspired him to write. Machen’s balance of suspense and supernatural dread influenced the Seeling Night stories, as did the work of M.R. James, William Hope Hodgson, Arthur Conan Doyle and Robert Aickman.
