Peter H Sedgwick

Peter Sedgwick is a British theologian and a priest in the Anglican Church. He has two degrees from Cambridge University in history and theology (divinity) and a PhD from Durham University in historical theology. He has taught at the universities of Birmingham, Hull and Cardiff, is a life fellow of the Center for Theological Inquiry, Princeton, NJ, USA, and his last job before he retired in 2014 was to be Principal of the training college for the Church in Wales, called St. Michael's College, Llandaff, in Cardiff. From 1996-2004 he was the Church of England's policy officer on criminal justice, working closely with NGOs in this area, the prison service , and writing speeches for bishops in the House of Lords. He has written widely on moral theology, both in social theology and the history of Anglican moral theology (ethics), and has been a member since 2011 of the Anglican Roman Catholic International Commission,(ARCIC) which is examining the relationship between moral theology and the doctrine of the church ( ecclesiology). In retirement he helped run a charity for destitute asylum seekers. He is married to Jan Gould who is a parish priest in Cardiff and he has three children.
