Kawai Mullen

Aloha! I’m Kawai Mullen, also known as The Sprouting Author.

With more than 25 years of experience in education, including over two decades dedicated to early childhood education, I have built my career around inspiring young learners, supporting educators, and advocating for the importance of early learning.

My journey as a children’s author began in 2021, inspired by my passion for early literacy, reading intervention, and creative storytelling. In 2022, I independently published my first children’s book, turning a small seed of creativity into a growing collection of stories designed to encourage learning, imagination, kindness, and a love for reading.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education Leadership and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. My background as an educator continues to influence the books I create and the meaningful learning experiences I hope to provide for young children and their families.

I am incredibly grateful for the journey that has allowed me to combine my love for education and storytelling while giving back to my local community through literacy and children's literature.

“A tiny seed of creativity can bloom into something wonderful if you take the time to nurture it.”
