Durgesh Kalya

Durgesh Kalya is a distinguished security professional with deep expertise in Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), and the Internet of Things (IoT). With over 18 years of experience across manufacturing, engineering design, and IT, he specializes in ICS security and incident management, helping protect critical infrastructure from evolving cyber threats.

Durgesh holds a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Houston–Clear Lake and a Bachelor’s in Instrumentation Technology from Visvesvaraya Technological University. He has earned multiple globally recognized certifications, including Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He also brings advanced operational leadership to the field, having completed multiple ICS4ICS roles such as Incident Commander, Logistics Section Chief, and Operations Section Chief (Type 4), awarded by the International Society of Automation (ISA). As a Cybersecurity Exam Development Expert with ISC2, he has contributed to shaping the future of certification standards in the industry.

Beyond his professional achievements, Durgesh is a passionate educator and community advocate. He is an active contributor and volunteer with professional bodies including ISA, IoTSF, ISC2, and ISACA, where he supports awareness and workforce development initiatives. His public speaking engagements and technical workshops aim to inspire a culture of security and preparedness in critical sectors.

A firm believer in giving back, Durgesh provides free mentorship programs for individuals pursuing careers in cybersecurity—whether they’re transitioning from other fields, returning after a career break, or just starting out. He is especially committed to supporting women and underrepresented groups in security roles.

And when he’s not defending critical infrastructure or mentoring future leaders, Durgesh brings the same discipline and focus to his training in martial arts—holding a First-Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo from Tiger J Kim’s World Class Taekwondo.
