Edward Y. Chang is an adjunct professor in the Computer Science Department at Stanford University since 2019. He previously served as the president of HTC Healthcare (2012-2021), and as a director of research at Google (2006-2012), where he led initiatives in scalable machine learning, indoor localization, Google QA, and recommendation systems. He was a visiting professor at UC Berkeley (2017-2020), focusing on surgical planning with virtual reality. Chang was a tenured professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara (1999-2006). He holds an MS in Computer Science and a PhD in Electrical Engineering, both from Stanford University. Chang is a recipient of numerous awards, including the NSF Career award, Google Innovation award, Tricorder XPRIZE (AI for disease diagnosis), and the ACM SIGMM Test of Time award. He is a Fellow of both ACM and IEEE for his contributions to scalable machine learning and healthcare.
