John Fullerton worked undercover for British intelligence along the Afghan-Pakistan frontier during the Cold War, recruiting informants and building agent networks. For light relief, he traipsed back and forth across the Hindu Kush for weeks at a time, dodging Soviet helicopter gunships, armoured columns, and thankfully inaccurate mortar fire. He returned unharmed, save for infestations of ticks and lice as well as record-breaking blisters. As a Reuters correspondent living or working in 40 countries, he covered a dozen wars. Postings included Hong Kong, Delhi, Beirut, Nicosia, Cairo and London. He has written fourteen books, mostly spy novels, including the forthcoming geopolitical thriller, Oceans Deep, to be published traditionally by Collective Ink’s Roundfire fiction imprint in May, 2027.
