Uli Schröder

Hello

and first of all, thank you very much for taking the time to take a look at my author page!

My name is Uli Schröder, and for more than 50 years now, the topic of football has determined my whole life - sometimes more and sometimes less!

As a young boy, I started as a street footballer at the age of about five, and the fascination for this game never left me for the rest of my life.

Since I was probably very talented for our wonderful game, I was spotted by a Bundesliga club at the age of 11 and invited to trial training.

This was followed by 7 very successful years as a junior player - including 1 time German champion / 2 times German runner-up / multiple Westphalian and West German champion as well as B and A junior national player - and then 2 years as a professional football player.

Unfortunately, a serious injury forced me to give up my professional life very early on and so began - if you like - 'my normal life afterwards'...!

Like you, I took care of my professional career from then on, and my private life also took its 'normal' course (wedding... / I became a dad...  / etc.), but without ever really losing sight of football.

Quite the opposite: During my diploma sports studies I completed my coach B and A license training and in 2003 I finally did my DFB football teacher license at the sports university in Cologne (with Ulf Kirsten, Hansi Flick etc., among others).

In addition, I have been working continuously since 1997 as an honorary consultant for the FLVW e.V. (Football and Athletics Association Westphalia e.V.) in the coach C- / B- license training and further education, but also for many football circles of the FLVW e.V. on the following topics of junior and senior football, among others:

1 Koordinationstraining

2 Speed training

3 Strength and speed training

4 Stretching and stabilizing

5 What to do with injured players

This was followed by many more coaching tasks at association level: five years as a DFB base coach at the RUB (Ruhr University Bochum) and 3 years as an athletic trainer for the U17 / U16 women's national team, among others, for whose players (including Alexandra Popp, Svenja Huth, Jennifer Maroszan etc.) I wrote athletic training plans during training in the sense of performance-enhancing as well as injury-reducing talent development and implemented them in practice.

Last but not least, I was involved - like you - for many years as a volunteer as a 'normal' children's and youth coach in a small suburban club.

And it was precisely this 12 years of activity in this smaller club that showed me very clearly and distinctly where the 'shoe pinches' with very many - and especially with the so numerous, but not (!) licensed coaching colleagues.

And how many training problems of a smaller and larger kind (including: age-appropriate training content and training methods, etc.) they actually have to deal with in their team or age group, and without often receiving meaningful assistance or / and without being able to orient themselves to a training plan installed in their club, since there is often no such training plan in many smaller clubs

Last but not least, the so many junior coaches whom I was able to get to know during my many years as an honorary trainer at association and district level as well as in many places in the smaller clubs had to complain about similar problems (= non-existent, 12-year training concept / see above).

Thus, the above problem was not limited to the numerous, unlicensed, but it also affected many licensed coaching colleagues, who often - like you perhaps even - are 'only' active in a smaller club with their license, in order to train the children and young people entrusted to them in a very committed and in most cases voluntary way!

That's exactly why during this time as a committed junior coach, the desire and also the motivation grew more and more in me, in addition to the activities at association and district level (see above) - quasi in a 'private' function - also to offer further training for the so numerous unlicensed children's and youth coaches on weekends, in order to make them very quickly (Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), very competently and very effectively to bring at least the basic principles of age-appropriate child / youth training closer in theory and practice.

However, since I understandably cannot offer and conduct my training courses in all clubs (DFB approx. 26,000!), I have decided, by popular request of your fellow coaches, to write a book, which has now been published and deals with all these problems and - hopefully !? - also solves.

In the aforementioned book: 'Framework Training Plan Junior Football' (= PART IV) of my series: Learning to Play Football' (PART I = Basic Training / PART II = Advanced Training / PART III = Performance Training), in addition to the practical and theoretical experience as a player / coach already described, many insights from my now more than 25 years of professional activity are also incorporated.

Both as a sports therapist, rehabilitation trainer (specializing in orthopedics and traumatology) and back school teacher, as well as from my training as a sports mental trainer C.

IMPORTANT:

My book: 'Framework Training Plan for Junior Football' was written in such a way that on the one hand every - i.e. not (!) licensed - coach can understand it very easily and on the other hand every coach - no matter in which age group (basic / advanced / performance training) - can work immediately afterwards, i.e. train his players!

Last but not least, the book was written in such a way that important hints and explanations for the more demanding, in the sense of primarily performance-oriented training (but only Part III: 'Performance Training' which can also be applied to senior training in many parts without any problems) are given to all licensed trainer colleagues.

Thus, this book can be a goal-oriented aid for everyone - including you - for your valuable work in the education of so many children and / or young people who play football with enthusiasm every day!
