Beatrice Markham

Beatrice Markham (pen name) is a retired lawyer and judge who never lost her love of archaeology and what her undergraduate and graduate education in the subject taught her about our past and the lessons we should never forget.

Combining that love with a passion for travel (forty countries and counting), she crafts mysteries set in exotic archaeological locations. The Mayan Archaeological Mysteries Series features Skyler Jace, who excavates not only ancient artifacts but also criminal mindsets. "Shadow of the Jaguar" and "The Vulture's Dance" are the first two books in the series available on Amazon. More are planned as there is so much to explore in the fascinating field of Mayan archaeology.

Under another pen name, Margot Maxwell, the author recently released a stand-alone novel, "The Emerald Enigma", also available on Amazon. In this mystery novel, a New York City detective and gemologist emotionally collide amid murder and intrigue. True to the author's love of ancient cultures, the enigma involves Mycenean Linear B ideograms.

When she is not writing, the author loves to spend time with her family, especially her young grandchildren.
