Abe J Garcia's life really changed once he became a father after years of trying and many relationships. He has dedicated his life's work to advocating for fatherhood and education. Born in Brooklyn, NY Abe was raised by loving parents and a big & brilliant brother. All 3 instilled in him the values of responsibility, perseverance, hard work, and education.
From a young age, Abe wanted to work on the streets of NYC with his dad delivering truckloads of ice cream to grocery stores and supermarkets all around the city, all-year long. Surprisingly people consumed more ice cream in the winter than the summer. Money was always a problem and working everyday was the solution. There was no money available for college. However, according to Abe’s parents and older brother, college was a safer long-term bet than working on the streets. Abe’s passion for work continued after his 1st day of college when Abe asked for a job from the Baruch College Career Services office. Abe was referred to an employer then worked for that same organization throughout his entire undergraduate and graduate school education. That organization paid 100% of his graduate school tuition. It all started for Abe by listening to his parents, working hard and staying focused on goals with deadlines.
When fatherhood finally arrived, Abe stopped everything including professional work to be a full-time, dedicated dad for his daughter and was later blessed with another child. The prospect of saying goodbye to his children every morning was unacceptable. So, 20 years ago he started an insurance brokerage agency and worked from home with his children nearby. He believed that fathers must play a crucial role in shaping their children's values, beliefs, and future success from the moment of birth into adulthood. Today, after serving 1,000's of individual and group clients that insurance agency may soon be passed on and operated by his daughter. Abe will now be able to write more about Money, Insurance and Financial Literacy with the hope of educating 1,000s and possibly millions more.
In addition to his work as a business owner and author, Abe is a community leader and has become a sought-after speaker, traveling the country to share his powerful message of Financial Literacy & Education. Abe also founded a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational resources and support not just to the wealthy but to everyone empowering parents to become positive role models for their children and leaving behind a legacy of literacy and maybe even a small inheritance.
