Markus Zehentner

Markus Zehentner is a legal professional with more than twenty years of experience across multiple sectors, including the Austrian judicial system, IT consulting, the finance industry, and human resources. He holds a doctorate in law from Austria and conducted academic research at UCLA School of Law. Earlier in his career, he also worked as a portfolio manager in New York City.

In addition to his legal work, Markus spent two years working in an HR function, gaining direct insight into organizational decision-making, leadership assessment, internal conflict handling, and the structural limits HR departments often face when dealing with toxic leadership.

Currently serving as a senior legal counsel, Markus brings together legal expertise, HR experience, organizational insight, and cross-industry exposure in his work as an author. His professional background has given him first-hand insight into power structures, leadership dynamics, and the often hidden mechanisms that shape behavior in organizations.

The ideas behind Breaking Free from Toxic Leadership emerged from a period of intense professional pressure combined with significant personal challenges. Rather than treating these experiences as isolated events, Markus began a structured exploration of toxic leadership, workplace manipulation, and their psychological and organizational foundations.

His work integrates legal reasoning, psychological research, and real-world organizational analysis. The focus is not on motivational narratives, but on helping readers develop clarity, language, and orientation when navigating manipulative or toxic leadership environments.

Markus lives and works in Vienna/Austria and continues to write on toxic leadership, workplace manipulation, and organizational power dynamics.
