Willie C. Martin

I enrolled in Welch College in the Fall of 1973. I married my wife Dianne Jordan in 1974 and our first son, Vernon, was born in 1975. We had two more boys, Jared and Travis. I earned a BA degree majoring in bible and a minor in pastoral administration in 1978. Now with 50 years of marriage behind me I have 14 grandchildren.

I pastored my first church in rural Georgia, where I am from, beginning in September of 1978. Except for a few heartaches along the way I loved it and engaged in every ministerial activity available. There were associations of churches with all of their activities and positions of service I became involved in. I directed camp sessions, served on various boards and committees, preached revival services, and attended many revivals and meetings.

My churches were my first love. I love people and visited them frequently in all kinds of circumstances as all pastors did in those days. I was known to spend much time in study. I read through my bible every year (now 50 times). I read commentaries for sermons, periodicals of various kinds for personal enrichment and knowledge, mostly Christian books about church growth, pastoring, many books on the Second Coming of Christ and books about doctrinal matters and current issues in the church world. I wrote manuscripts for most of my sermons, having a love for writing, as well as preaching. I am inclined to believe that I have an assortment of unusual sermons like few will ever hear (or so I am told)!

After almost 44 years of full-time ministry, although I am currently pastoring now, I am in a new phase of my life. Instead of spending as much time writing out sermon notes, I also want to take up the challenge of writing other books.
