Isabel Martinez is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Anthropology/Cultures, Societies, and Global Studies and the Director of the Latinx, Latin American, and Caribbean Studies program at Northeastern University. She is also the founding Director of U-LAMP, the Unaccompanied Latin American Minor Project. Her areas of research include Latinx immigrant youths, Latinx higher education, qualitative methodology, and Latinx Comedy. Her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Latino Studies, Journal of Latinos and Education, and Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy. She has received awards and fellowships from the New York State Youth Leadership Council, the Institute for Citizens & Scholars (formerly Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation) and the Spencer Foundation. She currently serves as a board member for Safe Passage Project in New York City.
