Kate Kretz is an artist, activist, author, & Associate Professor. She was BFA Director at Florida International University for 10 years. She's a Fulbright Specialist, & a James Renwick Alliance Distinguished Artist. She’s won numerous state grants from MD, NC, & FL for both painting & fiber. She received the SECAC award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement.
Her art has appeared in over 95 international newspapers, featured repeatedly in the NY Times, Washington Post, Miami Herald, Huffington Post, Atlanta Journal/Constitution, ArtPapers, Surface Design & Hyperallergic.
Exhibitions include Design Museum of Holon, Museum of Arts & Design in NYC, Van Gijn Museum, Kunstraum Kreuzberg, Academy of Arts & Design in Beijing, Racine Museum, Wignall Museum, Katonah Museum, Frost Art Museum, Fort Collins MOCA, Telfair Museum, Fort Lauderdale Museum, & the Museo Medici.
Her book, Art from Your Core: A Holistic Guide to Visual Voice, was released by Intellect Press in February of 2024. She’s contributed a chapter to Interrogating the Visual Culture of Trumpism from the Routledge Research in Art & Politics series, to be released in Sept. 2024.
