Laurel Patterson

I write about challenging situations children confront in daily life. Emotional intelligence is acquired from some surprising and engaging sources creating greater understanding and growth in the child, and perhaps in the parents too. I retired after teaching high school English for 24 years and receiving the Teacher of the Year Award, and have been writing ever since. Membership in the Redwood Writers Club and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) has been energizing.  My own daughter and granddaughters serve as inspirations for my stories.
