In 2024 at the age of 68, I completed a BFA degree in studio arts from Athens State University. When asked why I waited until retirement to go back to school, my reply is simple: I love learning and exploring new ideas, processes and techniques that takes my art to the next level. Growing up, learning was extremely hard for me. I never excelled in the classroom and often failed to achieve the goals set for my grade. It was a source of deep shame and something that colored my world for the rest of my life. My hope is to create nursery and counting rhymes for early childhood with original illustration. It was through nursery rhymes that I learned to make sense of letters and words. Repetition is key in early childhood learning.
