Anna Doble

Anna Doble is a journalist and digital editor at the BBC World Service. She previously worked at BBC Radio 1 and Channel 4 News, and has written for BBC News, BBC 6 Music, The Quietus, Drowned in Sound, HuffPost, Channel 4, the Museum of Youth Culture and Diva.

Her first book, Connection is a Song: Coming Up and Coming Out Through the Music of the '90s, is a memoir of music, identity and adolescence in 1990s Britain. Through cider-soaked nights, teenage obsessions and the defining songs of a generation - from 'Wannabe' and 'Unfinished Sympathy' to 'Birdhouse in Your Soul' and 'Girls & Boys' - Anna explores the emotional power of pop music as a soundtrack to growing up. Blending cultural history with personal storytelling, the book traces a deeply recognisable coming-of-age journey through the music of artists including the Spice Girls, Pulp and Massive Attack.
