Chhavi Arya Bhargava

Chhavi Arya Bhargava (she/her) is an Indian American Canadian entrepreneur and former elementary school teacher who believes we all have the power to build a more inclusive world.

🪔 Her latest book, A Kids Book About Diwali, helps grownups and kids better understand the Diwali holiday, fostering belonging and pride among those who celebrate.

The book has won five national awards, including the 2024 NYC Big Book Award, the 2024 American Bookfest Best Book Award, the 2025 American Legacy Book Award, the 2025 International Book Award, and the 2025 Story Monster Approved Book Designation for Cultural Diversity. It was also a finalist for the 2025 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.

She is a contributor to the Wall Street Journal bestseller Beyond Diversity and co-founder of the Non-Obvious Company. She is also the co-founder of Ideapress Publishing.

Before becoming an entrepreneur, Chhavi spent a decade teaching and introduced Canada's first multicultural curriculum on diversity and inclusion. She is the former Executive Director of SAYVA Teens and is now founder and president of SAYVA Next, a nonprofit community service organization focusing on South Asian kids, teens, and young adults.

Chhavi is an adventurous traveler and enjoys seeing many different regions of the world. She has hiked the sand dunes in Namibia, the glaciers in Patagonia and even survived a not-so-friendly encounter with a leopard while on safari!

She lives in the Washington DC area with her husband and two teenage boys.
