Tyler Strange

Tyler Strange was born and raised in Travelers Rest, SC, and resides in Myrtle Beach, SC. He is married to Lauren, and they are raising two beautiful humans—Ava Grace and Ellie Hope—each with a unique story to go with their names.

Tyler’s story includes graduating from Clemson University with a math degree. After college, he taught high school students how and why they will use math in the future (SPOILER: They did! And more than they thought!).

Next, his life’s journey led him to Emory University Candler School of Theology and to work as a campus ministry director in downtown Atlanta. After graduate school, he returned to South Carolina to serve as a pastor in the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Tyler’s life has taken him to places and parts of people’s stories that most people will never see unless it happens to them. His creativity, humor, and curiosity give Tyler a unique ability to help make meaning out of life, encourage folks as they process their stories, and serve you as you discover God’s preferred future for your life.

A CUP OF COFFEE WITH TYLER

- He stutters and fully embraces this part of his story. He believes Speech Language Pathologists are underappreciated because they literally help people find their voice.

- His family loves performing in the living room and jumping across ditches. If they don’t reach the other side of the ditch, that is fine. It makes for a fun story!

- His Spotify playlists range from the music of his high school homecoming dances to Lenten liturgy and everything in between.

- Tyler is curious about many things in life and loves exploring his doubts and questions – especially as it relates to his faith in God and how this engages daily life.

- Gary Player (the golf legend) once borrowed his cell phone.

- In his heart, Tyler is a coach (High School baseball coach for 7 years, football coach for 4 years).

- He enjoys spreading hope like it's confetti and coming up with fun ways to show people they matter.

- Tyler loves creating new and innovative ways to use what is cultural to communicate that which is timeless.

His story has taught him hope is a direction and we make the way one day, one story, one conversation, one breath, and one napkin at a time.
