Barbara Alford

Barbara Alford and Frances Milazzo grew up together in Brooklyn, NY. Both dedicated educators, Barbara's career took her to Alabama and Georgia focused on writing, while Fran's professional pathway in South Huntington, New York, has been all about art. Alford and Milazzo were inspired by their grandchildren to create their first book, Just Kate, in 2022, followed by Just Kate-Finding Friendship in 2024. Their third turtle adventure, Just Kate-One World, was released in May 2026. Through their stories and illustrations, this author-illustrator team imparts a message to their granddaughters and to children everywhere: that interacting with nature and with one another requires mutual respect, open understanding, and a sense of responsibility.
