Irene Lawlor lives in Dublin, Ireland with her husband, daughters, and dog Ginger. An active mother, secretary, and actor, she was dramatically catapulted into a more subdued lifestyle in 2006, when she suffered a cardiac arrest while pregnant and was resuscitated. Three months later it happened again - miraculously, she and her baby survived; someone watched over them. The fatigue that comes with heart failure, endless tachycardias and severe shocks from her implantable defibrillator forced her to find a different outlet for her creativity. Someone suggested writing and in 2013 she published her debut novel Discovering Ireland, a romantic comedy set in.. you guessed, Ireland! Like most people after receiving a life-changing diagnosis, she asked "Why me?" She now believes that is was part of a pre-birth plan to deconstruct her life, so she'd learn to write - Discovering Ireland was the practise run, THE GIRL THAT GOD FELL TO was the goal. Now in advanced heart failure Irene is waiting for another miracle - a new heart.
