D. Alan Chandler MD

Alan Chandler, MD, is a seasoned ophthalmologist dedicated to enhancing eye health and vision. Graduating from the University of Virginia in 1984 and the Medical College of Virginia in 1988, he's been serving the Richmond community since 1992, focusing on Mechanicsville since 2004. Dr. Chandler specializes in cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment, diabetic retinopathy, laser treatment of floaters and ocular surface conditions like dry eye.

Dr. Chandler has a significant interest in psychology and biological aspects of behavior. He also loves cats and has had many pet cats over the years, though currently his most recent pets, Lorna and Smokey, had passed due to cancer. He lives with his mildly autistic daughter and they often participate in local fundraising events.

Born and raised in Virginia, Dr. Chandler remains committed to his community, participating in charity eye care programs and giving back to those in need. With his expertise and compassion, he's dedicated to improving lives through improving and maintaining vision.
