Yasmin El-rouby

Dr. Yasmin El-Rouby grew up in Kingston Ontario, Canada surrounded by the Thousand Islands and the city’s distinct historical charm. With a library right next door, she was an avid reader immersed in books such as Jane Eyre and Anne of Green Gables. She was also deeply inspired It quickly became apparent to her at a young age that books are a powerful tool to inspire and educate.

As a Canadian and American board-certified eye doctor who currently works at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, her career spans over 20 years. She has worked in all facets of eye care taking a special interest in children’s eye health. As a mother of 4, she noticed a clear gap in the book market for children’s books that address health - in particular eye health. Since most of the world’s blindness and vision impairment is preventable through vision screenings and eye exams, she decided to play an active role in raising awareness about simple vision disorders and the importance of early detection and prevention through a fun and quirky children’s book series that would educate children, their parents, and the wider community. She also founded a non-profit organization called Baseera Vision International to provide free eye exams and glasses for those most in need
