Desmond P Murray

Desmond Murray is a Dao practitioner with over 50 years of experience.

A senior student of Chee Soo, Desmond inherited the Lee family Daoist system following Chee Soo’s death in 1994 and has dedicated much of his life to preserving, practising and teaching its arts.

Over many years of travelling and training in China, Desmond has developed lasting friendships with Daoist practitioners and organisations across the country. He was given the Daoist name Lee Yuan Ming by the Chinese Taoist Association in recognition of his abilities and contribution to Daoist practice.

Desmond was the first Westerner to be honoured as a Vice President of the Shandong Province Wushu Association and the first Overseas President of the Weihai Wushu Association.

He continues to teach through courses organised by the International Taoist Society in the UK and internationally. He has also established Sea Cloud Hall training centres in Tenerife and Leeds, creating places dedicated to the study and practice of the Daoist arts.

It is Desmond’s hope that the Lee Family Daoist tradition will continue to improve people’s lives for generations to come, bringing greater health, peace and happiness.
