Chris DeFlorio

Chris DeFlorio is the author of the supernatural thriller Called Into Darkness: Two NYC First Responders Battle the Supernatural and its companion novella Prey in the Dark: The Haunting at the 32. His stories blend real-life experiences through his Christian faith, law enforcement and emergency services with cinematic storytelling inspired by true events.

Before becoming an author, Chris served as a nationally certified paramedic with the New York City Fire Department in the 1990s, working in the South Bronx, and later spent years with the New York City Police Department, including time in plain clothes at Harlem’s 32nd Precinct. During his career, he witnessed firsthand the darkest sides of humanity—experiences that now shape the emotional realism and intensity of his writing.

In 2009, Chris and his wife Harmony experienced a profound spiritual awakening that led them to an incredible truth: they needed Jesus to find the peace they had been searching for all their lives. In 2018, a humanitarian trip to Africa became a pivotal moment that reshaped Chris's life. It eventually led Chris and Harmony into international ministry and investigative work involving spiritual warfare and unexplained phenomena, which ultimately inspired them to share this reality through the Called Into Darkness series.

Chris has been featured internationally in newspapers, magazines, documentaries, podcasts, and television segments discussing spiritual warfare, demonology, and real-world supernatural encounters. He and Harmony appeared in the documentary It’s Coming, and Chris has been interviewed across multiple platforms worldwide.

Called Into Darkness was optioned for a motion picture adaptation in 2025 and the book series continues with Prey in the Dark, a companion story expanding the universe and deepening the origin of the haunting at the 32nd Precinct.

Chris is currently developing Descend Into Darkness: The Vanishing One, the official sequel to Called Into Darkness and the third installment in the series, scheduled for release in 2027.
