Dorothy Shorne

Currently semi-retired and living in Adelaide, Dorothy Shorne has had a varied career. She built modular houses in Central Australia on remote aboriginal settlement, opened various businesses, and was involved in the development of Sydney Airport when it was operated by the Federal Airports Corporation.

The airport job was ideal, given her pre-existing interest in aviation. She obtained her private licence whilst living in Alice Springs. She has worked as a property consultant throughout her working life, with the last role being with the Level Crossing Removal Project in Melbourne.

Working as a civil celebrant over a couple of decades gave her the experience with which to write the Rites of Passage series, compiling ceremonies for weddings, naming ceremonies, and funerals.

She is a published romance writer, and loves the short story format in a range of genres. She now lives in a beachside suburb in Adelaide, South Australia, and much of her writing takes place in the local cafes. Current and future work ranges from mystery to contemporary fiction.
