Melissa Seims

Melissa Seims is an author specialising in the history of modern witchcraft, especially Gardnerian witchcraft of the 1950s and 1960s and the mysterious Coven of Atho. She is also a specialist on the influential 1888 Golden Dawn Temple, known as Horus No.5 in Bradford. Her latest book, 'Light in Extension', for the first time uncovers its story and places it in the wider West Yorkshire esoteric and occult scene of the 1880s and 1890s.

Through her writing, which she often refers to as 'literary necromancing', she seeks to authentically illuminate the hidden currents of British Occult history and offer fresh insights into the esoteric, occult and magical world. Her unique work explores the intricate traditions, personalities, and legacies that have shaped contemporary magical practices.

Melissa feels that British occult history is something everyone shoud be proud of and likes to point out that even the well-known poet W.B. Yeats, attributed much of his creativity to being in the Victorian magical order of the Golden Dawn.

Beyond her historical research, Melissa maintains a keen interest in astronomy and the psychology of magic. As a mother and grandmother, In her spare time she loves travelling around the UK and nature reserves in Daenerys, her beloved campervan. She also loves going bouldering.
