Leonie Binge grew up in the western suburbs of Sydney in a typical middle-class family. After listening to her mother's tales of growing up in an orphanage, Leonie promised her mother, Clare, to one day write about them. The result in the family memoir, Nellie's Vow.
Leonie obtained a Bachelor of Education from The University of Sydney and chose to specialise in teaching younger students. After moving to Melbourne with her husband and raising three children of her own, Leonie returned to teaching and spent three years working with young children with disabilities and special learning needs. Subsequently she spent ten years teaching mostly Prep children at a private college in bayside Melbourne. She is currently working on two other books, a children's picture book and a romance set in the outback of Australia.
