David Brooks has lived nearly all of his years in rural upstate New York. He resides in the lower Adirondacks, from which he draws inspiration even when it isn’t obvious. A keen observer of human nature, he enjoys walking along the lonely woods and lonelier streets of rustbelt towns. Raised a half-generation behind, his childhood was spent creating games, making up stories, and entertaining imaginary friends. In his adulthood, he has worked in varied long-term positions that give him a sense of the futility of civilization. Currently he works in the field of History, but someday too, that shall pass.
