Jack and Mary come from diverse backgrounds. Jack grew up in a tight-knit Italian community in Rhode Island, surrounded by immigrant relatives. Rooted in southern Italy, his family's cuisine celebrates Puglian and Sicilian flavors with locally sourced ingredients.

Mary's upbringing in northern California shaped her culinary journey under the guidance of her mother, Jean, and grandmother, Mattie. With roots in America's pioneering days, her cookbook contributions reflect her Scots-Irish heritage with game dishes and country cuisine.

Under maternal mentorship and in her 4-H Club, Mary honed her skills. Jack, her husband, shared his Italian heritage, passing down family recipes from his mother, Grace.

Their shared love for cultural preservation led to a cookbook celebrating their backgrounds, filled with stories and legacy recipes. Within its pages lie cherished traditions and culinary treasures, showcasing Italian, Sicilian, and American cultures.
