Julia Albarracín is a multiple award winner and Professor of Political Science at Western Illinois University. She has a Law degree (Universidad National de La Plata), an MIB (Ecole National des Ponts et Chausées-Universidad de Belgrano),
and a Ph.D. in Political Science (University of Florida). She specializes in Latin American and Latino politics, immigrant integration, and political behavior, and has published three books, and numerous book chapters and journal
articles. Her published books are At the Core and in the Margins: Incorporation of Mexican Immigrants in Two Rural Midwestern Communities (Michigan State University Press, 2026), Making in Immigrants in Modern Argentina (Notre Dame
University Press, 2020), and coauthored Creating Conspiracy Beliefs: How Our Thoughts are Shaped (Cambridge University Press, 2021). Her latest book, Deferred Action: The Roller-Coaster Incorporation of DACA Recipients will be
published by NYU Press in 2025. Julia is also the Executive Director of Western llinois Dreamers. Before coming to the United States, Julia was an adviser for the Argentina Hurlingham Municipality’s Education, Press, and Communication
Secretariat and the Argentine Ministry of Interior Population Secretariat, supervising the National Direction of Immigration.
