Benjamin Poore

Benjamin Poore is Professor of Theatre at the University of York, UK. His first book, Heritage, Nostalgia and Modern British Theatre, looked at how the ending of theatre censorship in British theatres changed the way playwrights thought about and represented the Victorians. Since then, he's written an introductory guide to thinking about Theatre & Empire, and a study of adaptations of Sherlock Holmes between screen and stage. Benjamin Poore has edited a collection of essays Neo-Victorian Villains, and co-edited another collection on Contemporary Gothic Drama. His most recent book focuses on Contemporary History Plays in the 21st century.
