Sandra Hirsh

Dr. Sandra Hirsh’s experience in the library and information science field spans academia, research & development, and consumer product development. She has worked at San José State University (SJSU) since 2010, first as Professor and Director of the SJSU School of Information, then as Associate Dean for Academics in the College of Information, Data and Society, and currently as Special Assistant to the Provost for AI Initiatives. Her Silicon Valley industry experience includes working at HP Labs, Microsoft, and LinkedIn.

She is an active leader in the library and information science field. She currently serves as the Chair of the American Library Association's International Relations Round Table. She previously served as president of two international associations: the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) and the Association for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T). She co-founded and co-chaired the global virtual Library 2.0 conference series for nearly 15 years. Her recent books include Blockchain (ALA Library Futures Series) and Information Services Today: An Introduction, 3rd edition. Her latest book, Library 2035: Imagining the Next Generation of Libraries, is about the future of libraries.
