April is a best-selling author and illustrator of over 15 books. She also is an award winning actress, painter, and mixed-media artist whose works are in collections worldwide. Born and raised on a rural twenty-acre farm in southeast Missouri, April developed a deep love of animals, wildlife, nature, and country-living that has influenced her style and permeated her works. She is an alumna of The College of the Ozarks in Branson, MO and earned a BS degree in English and Theatre.

"As an author, I feel like the characters in my books are very much alive. They have real hopes, fears, and dreams. But they wait in a silent world until a reader brings them to life. It is in the act of reading that they are allowed to live. I hope that my readers will resonate deeply with them and love and care for them just as much as I do."
