Jeff Schmidt grew up in Northern California surrounded by a lively mix of family pets—cats, dogs, and even a horse. Inspired early on by James Herriot’s timeless books, he developed a lifelong passion and deep respect for animals. After high school, Jeff served two years as a tank crewman in the U.S. Army stationed in West Germany. Following an honorable discharge, he earned his Biology degree with honors from San Diego State University. Driven by his love for animal care, Jeff pursued veterinary medicine at the University of California, Davis, earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. He then founded a veterinary practice in Roseville, California, built on the principles of Service, Quality, and Compassion. Recognized as one of the region’s top animal hospitals, his practice reflected his commitment to excellent care. Jeff retired in 2022 and now calls Kuna, Idaho, home.
