Stephen Barrett writes crime fiction from the intersection of money, ambition and human nature.
With more than thirty-five years of experience in the financial services industry across the UK, Germany and Europe, Stephen has spent a career observing the world of finance from the inside. The people, pressures, temptations and moral compromises he encountered along the way now provide the inspiration for his fiction.
Writing has been a passion for many years. His debut financial crime novel, A Casual Temptation, introduced readers to Neil Wilson and a world where ambition, greed and seemingly innocent choices can have devastating consequences. It was followed by A Lethal Investment, and the story continues in A Stable Coin, the third and final novel in the Neil Wilson Financial Crime Series.
Stephen was born and raised in Worthing on England’s south coast, a place that remains close to his heart. Today he lives in Düsseldorf, Germany, but returns to Worthing whenever he can. Despite more than three decades away, his home town remains his spiritual home—and, in many ways, the place where his stories began.
