Steven Wingate

Steven was born in Woodlawn, Maryland, the son of Earl and Eileen Wingate in 1954. Riding his bike and playing football were favorite pastimes as a child. As a teen his interest turned to music, playing drums in a rock band from 1968-1973. He ran track at Woodlawn High, running the 220 and 440, and graduated in 1972. Earl and Steve were big Baltimore Colts fans and he is wearing his old Burt Jones jersey at Ocean City in the profile picture, although a diehard Ravens fan now. The Jesus Movement swept him into the Kingdom of God in 72 on the beach at Ocean City. Ill-will and anger were replaced with love and grace. He met his beautiful bride Gayle (Cheuvront) Wingate and they have been in love over 50 years. They raised four children and have 7 grandchildren.

In 1974 the Lord called Steven to preach the gospel and he completed college and seminary and has served as a pastor for 20 years, most of them bi- vocationally. Currently Steven is focused on writing and his evangelism/revival ministry, "Revival in Small Town USA", preaching mostly in the mountains of West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, and teaching the Bible in his home church. People respond enthusiastically to his drama portrayal of the Sermon on the Mount dressed as Jesus, and he welcomes churches to call him to preach. Steven's hobbies are mountain camping, hiking, and wiffle ball.
