Writing has always been at the heart of who I am. After a lifetime of work and
raising a family, retirement finally gave me the chance to follow my true
passion: storytelling. I grew up in a small town, surrounded by family, nature,
and the kind of everyday adventures that spark a lifelong imagination. Today, I
am a proud mother of three and a “Mimi” to five grandchildren, who
continue to inspire much of my creativity.
As an artist and photographer, I also love to capture the beauty of the world
around me. Whether through painting, travel, or photography, I weave those
same colors, textures, and feelings into my books.
Under the name Mimi Durbec, I bring young readers into the playful world of
Maya Moo and her friends. These interactive, rhyming stories delight children
while helping them learn through rhythm and imagination.
Under the name B. S. Durbec, I write for older readers:
• Young Adult Fantasy ‒ The Amulet of the Golden Eagle series, a tale of
family secrets, courage, and legend.
• Nonfiction Guides ‒ Nature’s Survival Food, a practical handbook for
thriving with what nature provides.
Family is the thread that runs through all of my writing. From the curious
questions of my grandchildren to stories passed down through generations, my
books reflect the values of imagination, resilience, and love of learning.
